Read the press release for this event.

Location of camp is behind the Gualala Hotel.  “Battle/Demonstration ground” is in the same area.  Revenue to be collected from local inhabitants for the crown by arresting residents and setting bail.  This will be done throughout the day.  Detainees will be extended greater indulgences based on cooperation level (i.e. liquid refreshment).  Evening venue for living history programs, may include story telling, games, a spirited debate of issues of the era and include the matters of the recent arrested people.

During these festivities there will be some loud reports, bangs, flashes, etc. 
We suggest leaving your pets in a secure place where they are safe.

This year’s activities include a Firearms Safety Center and Shooting Range at the old pharmacy building across the street from the Gualala Hotel.  The shooting range utilizes harmless plastic pellets and is open to adults and children (at least 10 years old) with parental supervision.  There will be Safety Classes throughout the day, Free Firearm Safety material and free gun locks provided by the Mendocino County Sheriff.  There are no entry charges for this area of the event.

The Firearms Safety Center is sponsored by the National Shooting Sports Foundation, through the authority of Tom Allman; Mendocino County Sheriff, the National Rifle Association, Cybergun S.A., and Soft Air USA, the Worlds largest manufacturers and distributors of airsoft guns and Smith & Wesson, Corp. Springfield Mass.

John S. Steele, and John Casey Steele, Father and Son- will supervise and operate the Center over the weekend. Both John and Casey are Certified Firearms Range Officers, and Safety Officers.  Casey Steele was Director of Range Safety at the largest shooting range in the United States. The Firearms Safety Center hours are; Friday 12 to 5, Saturday 9 to 5, and Sunday 12 to 4.

9:00 a.m. USMC Ceremony  raising of the 50 star flag.
12:00 noon USMC lowering flag and raising colonial flag.
TBA Letters of Marque will be issued and Privateers will be robbing the WestAmerica Bank!
7:00 p.m. A signal at the clock tower in cypress village.  Paul Revere will ride through town warning the citizens that the British are coming.
TBA USMC retiring Colonial Flag in evening ceremony.

Saturday July 7, 2007

9:00 a.m. USMC raising colonial flag.
10:00 a.m.  March on the Gualala Hotel seize building, post sentries, set up base of operations.  American flag struck, British colours flown.  At that time civil government is suspended, martial law is declared.  Names of those suspected of collusion with rebel forces & crimes against the Crown are read and given one hour to report to proper authorities before being deemed “fugitive” and actively pursued.  Location: the entry of Gualala Hotel.
10:30 a.m. Revolutionary war camp opens with ongoing interactive activities throughout the day for the paid general public. 
11:00 a.m. Fugitive apprehension commences. Trials begin. Location: Gualala Hotel. 
11:00 a.m. Give Fire! Live firing Artillery demonstration location at edge of camp. Location: camp parade ground. 
11:30 a.m. YZ Cooper Colonial rifleman demonstrating the details of the weapon, the man and the job.  Location: pharmacy. 
12:00 noon The “Royal” American A view of the conflict from a colonist loyal to the Crown.  Location: British camp.
12:30 p.m. Lunch break for British reenactors, resume at 1:00 p.m.
12:30 p.m. Trial #1 at the Gualala Hotel game room.
1:00 p.m. Lunch break for American reenactors, resume at 1:30 p.m.
1:30 p.m. Why war? A frank description by a Continental soldier.  Location: Continental camp.
2:00 p.m. Know your place! A British officers’ position on affairs in the colonies.  Location: British camp. 
2:30 p.m. Musket and Bayonet fire arm skills and demonstrations of the old ways Location: Continental camp.
3:00 p.m. Trial #2 at the Gualala Hotel game room.
3:30 p.m. Anatomy of a Battle evolution of battlefield tactics of the 18th century.  Location camp parade ground.
4:30 p.m. The King’s Schilling! take a deeper look into the methods of raising an army for King and Country.  Location: British camp.
5:00 p.m. Give Fire! live firing Artillery demonstration location at edge of camp. Location: camp parade ground.
5:30 p.m. Camp closes to general public. 
6:00 p.m. Pre-paid dinner activities, story telling, and spirited debate of the issues of the era.  Location Gualala Hotel Restaurant.
7:30 p.m. Close of Saturday festivities.

Sunday July 8, 2007

10:00 a.m. Church Service a traditional 18th century ceremony based on conventional services of the Church of England.  The form of worship presented is adapted (abbreviated) from the liturgy (public service) of Morning Prayer (Matins) from the 1762 Book of Common Prayer of the Church of England, later adopted by the Episcopal Church in America.  Your liturgist (presenter) will be Peter Mohr, a lay reader of the Shepherd by the Sea Episcopal / Lutheran Mission of Gualala.  Peter is a retired Mechanical and Nuclear Engineer, formerly of Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and has been a resident of the south coast since 1992.  He offers his services in memoriam of his predecessor in this work, the late priest James Peter Farmer.  Location: the British camp-free to public. Hymn for this service.

12:30 p.m. Retreat! relinquishing the town. Location: Gualala Hotel front.
1:00 p.m. Surrender Ceremony surrendering of commander’s sword exchange of control. Location: Gualala Hotel front. British lower flag after surrender.
1:30 p.m. Changing of the Guard final salutes and flag lowering and subsequent flag raising USMC.  Location: Gualala Hotel front.
2:00 p.m. Give Fire!  live firing Artillery demonstration location at edge of camp. Location: camp parade ground.
2:30 p.m.

Gualala Watershed Presentation

3:00 p.m. The Great Gualala Hotel Escape!   (The US Humane Society is setting up a voluntary "toll booth"  during the "Escape".  The Great Gualala Hotel Escape Escapees include the notorious Mendocino County Sheriff and the dastardly California Highway Patrol Area Commander .  The Toll booth will be located at the access to the Gualala Bluff Trail* at the Surf Motel.  The United States Humane Society staff from Sacramento will collect voluntary donations for the California Chapter of the Humane Society.  The United States Marines will be providing security for the toll booth.

Tolls (Suggested Donation) is as follows:    Patriots - $1,  British Escapees: Free (must show proof of imprisonment),  British - $3
 
100% OF ALL PROCEEDS GO THE US HUMANE SOCIETY WEST COAST CHAPTER
* Donations are not required to access the Gualala Bluff Trail.
 

3:30 p.m. camp closes to general public. 
4:00 p.m. Final Salute Artillery firing and final remarks.  Member of British, USMC, and Americans retire the flag.
